Barrack Lane, Gt Waltham

Working alongside Myriad Housing, DCH built three family homes and a bungalow for rent in Great Waltham on the outskirts of Chelmsford.

Built using traditional brick and block construction, this project is made up of four units: one two-bedroom bungalow and three family homes, two three-bedroom and one four-bedroom. The client, a charitable housing association, is providing high standard accommodation for tenants with links to the local area.

True to DCH's green credentials, all the homes were awarded a level-three rating under the Code for Sustainable Homes and meet the Lifetime Homes standard. Each unit also features solar PV panels - a win for the planet, the client and the tenant due to lower CO2 emissions and lower running costs.

The homes were given an aesthetic boost with a finish of white coloured mortar.

This project was the client's 2,000th new-build home and DCH was proud to have played its part. At the ceremony to mark this milestone Saffron Walden MP Sir Alan Haselhurst remarked that the designs involved were 'very attractive' and congratulated the client and its partners for 'constructing these lovely homes'.
