The business was started in 1946 by Duncan Cameron. One of its earliest projects was a housing development in Challis Lane, Braintree, which was completed in 1947 for Braintree Urban District Council (which has since become Braintree District Council). Duncan was joined by Eric Hutchinson in 1948 and together they formed Duncan Cameron and Hutchinson Ltd in 1950, trading as DCH Construction. The company, which currently employs a team of 34 people, has been based in Coggeshall since 1991.
DCH has left its mark on numerous housing, commercial and educational projects throughout the East of England. These have most recently included a 26-unit development for Essex Housing in Chelmsford, an 18-dwelling development in Lavenham for Hastoe Group, and 24 dwellings for Orwell Housing in Great Bromley.
Celebrating the 75th anniversary, DCH Director, Michael Brock, says:
"The construction industry has seen some significant changes over the past 75 years but DCH's core values have remained the same. We continue to deliver high-quality new-builds and refurbishments across the east of England. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our team, clients, and supply chain partners, who have contributed much to the success of DCH. With their continued support we look forward to the next 75 years."
